Mr. Colby died last Sunday, January 22nd after an illness of about five weeks, the immediate cause of death being pneumonia. He had been a resident of Plymouth for some three years and a half, coming here from Manchester where he had been in the employ of the Amoskeag Mfg. Co., steadily and a wheelwright, having charge of the turbine wheels particularly.
"Mr. Colby was an Odd Fellow and stood high in the Order being a member, and having attended the meetings of Hillsboro Lodge No. 2 of Manchester, regularly and constantly for over thirty years. He was Past Grand Master of the Lodge, also Past Chief Patriarch of Wonolauset Encampment.
"Funeral services were held at his late resident here Wednesday morning, and a committee of Plymouth Lodge I.O.O.F. accompanied the remains to Manchester where final interment took place. The committee from here consisted of First Selectman Amasa W. Avery, Third Selectman, Charles W. George, Deputy Sheriff Moses Ferrin, Messrs. Daniel Brown and Erastus Dearborn. At Manchester they were met by the lodge to which Mr. Colby had belonged, by whom the services were conducted at the tomb. The interment was in Valley Cemetery.
