This update contains changes/additions primarily to the Landon, Meaker/Meeker, Bolles, Natzle, Snow, and Hoose surnames. There has been some significant cleanup in the Census citations and the repair of some sources.
March 20, 2017:
This update contains changes/additions primarily to the Savercool, Landon, and Cobb surnames. There has been some significant cleanup in the Census citations and the repair of some sources. As you will notice, I use the Find-A-Grave web site alot, but recently have found numerous errors or contradictions with death/birth certificates and census information. Please remember to properly vet any information you take from this site or any site.

I would like to give a special note of thanks to the Hume Historical museum staff for their extra efforts in helping me unravel the Rodman-Vandusen families in Fillmore, NY. They were extremely helpful and have made an extraordinary newspaper collection into a searchable form. I recommend them to anyone doing Allegany (NY) County research around Hume and Fillmore.

I continue to add data gleaned from the New York State Vital Statistics Index microfiche. I am making a concerted effort to do look ups on any NY birth, death and marriage which occurred within the indexes coverage. Only those events which occurred after 1920 were "required to be" reported. The current copy I have access to covers births from 1881 (incomplete) through 1936. Marriages and Deaths from 1880 through 1961 are covered.
New content on the Family Search site (LDS) includes the release of the microfilm images from county records in New York State, Pensylvania (and others). The appear to be the images taken by the LDS organization in the last century. The image include information not available on the NYS Vital Statistics Index microfiche such as parents names birthplaces, occupation, and previous marriages. The images are cross indexed to include the parents names. The bad news is there are NYSVI index entries that do not show up in the LDS image indexes. Where the image does exist, the information is enlightening. I have found about 25 marriages so far and continue to check. Index accuracy is typical LDS.
