From Lew Griffin: This 1762 date of marriage for Christian Ford and David Staples is from the "Staples Family Association Newsletter" of July 1978, Vol. 2, No. 1, and is otherwise undocumented by this researcher. If correct, then Christian Ford was not the mother of David Staples Jr. Or else David Staples Jr. was at most 15 years old when he married Fanny Manley in 1778, which seems highly unlikely. Or perhaps the 1762 date of marriage is not correct.¹
