Aris D. Lunsford

 

 

Although no documented proof has been found, it is believed that Aris D. Lunsford was the brother of William Lunsford. 

 

Aris D. Lunsford married America May Nixon on 23-May-1839, in Hardeman County, Tennessee.  By 1850, he and his family were in Lauderdale County.

 

Two Aris Lunsford's were enumerated on the 1840 census, both in Dyer County and in Hardeman County.  Based on the marriage record of Aris D. and America May Nixon, it is most likely that the Aris in Hardeman County was the same who was in Lauderdale County by 1850.  Also in Hardeman County, 1840, was the household of Ephraim Lunsford.

 

Aris D. Lunsford and Hardy R. Osteen owned and operated a business in Ripley by the name of Osteen and Lunsford.

 

Aris D. Lunsford bought property on Obion Lake in Dyer County, Tennessee in 1852.  He conducted numerous land transactions in Lauderdale County, up until his death, sometime before 1876.

 

The graves of Aris D. Lunsford and America May Nixon Lunsford have not been located, although they appear to have remained in Civil District 10 up until their deaths.
