SHERMAN BOYD, 79, DIES IN HOSPITAL AFTER LONG ILLNESS
Liscomb (Special) Sherman R. Boyd, former blacksmith, died shortly after 4p.m. Wednesday in a Marshalltown Hospital, where he had been the last month.
He had been in failing health for several years. The body is in Union at the Biersborn Funeral Home, where funeral arrangements are being made.
Mr. Boyd was born in Liscomb on January 3, 1872, a son of the late James and Elizabeth (Bueghley) Boyd. He was married to Emily Louthan of Tama on Janu-
ary 19, 1900.
As a young man, Sherman Boyd learned the blacksmith trade under Jonas Wiley, early day Liscomb blacksmith, & became a partner in the business. He operated shops in Sheffield, Northwood and Toledo, and later at Tama.
After selling the shop in Tama, Mr. & Mrs. Boyd went to Bovina (Colorado), where they homesteaded 160 acres. They returned to Liscomb for a year and then went to Red Rock where they were in business for several years, operating a store, filling station and blacksmith shop. Since retiring from business, they have been living in Liscomb.

He died as child of some disease that struck. When Grandma Boyd spent the night with us, she would tell me about the little ones who died. She wished she could go back to where they were buried. She just knew she could find their graves. Jenny (Virginia) and Aunt Taney Mae took her there once but she couldn't find them. She was very upset. He and Mun are buried somewhere near Lone Wolf, Oklahoma. The graves may be unmarked. Either Si or Mun was deaf.
