Patrick Elmer Wright, son of Lafayette M. Wright and his second wife, Sarah Ann Wilson, was born November 3, 1869, in Fountain Green Township, Hancock County, Illinois.

Both Lafayette and Sarah perished in 1879, along with two of their little ones, Albert and Ola.  The Mortality Schedule for Fountain Green Township (scroll to family #225) prepared in conjunction with the 1880 Federal Census, recorded four deaths in the household of John Wright, Lafayette's son by his first marriage.  Lafayette and Sarah were said to have died in November of 1879 from pneumonia.  On January 2, 1880, The LaHarper published a notice of their deaths.

Also from the Mortality Schedule, Albert Wright, 5, and Ola Wright, 3, died in August from "flux". They, too, were listed in John Wright's home.  On both July 25, 1879, and August 8, 1879, The LaHarper published a notice regarding the death of a child of Lafayette Wright.

Lafayette and Sarah's three surviving children were two teenage daughters, Flora Belle and Eva E., and Patrick Elmer.  We have not located Flora in 1880; Eva was in John Wright's home and young "Elmer Wright" was working as a servant in the home of Charley Dorothy in Pilot Grove Township.

The following obituary is posted on Ancestry.com, with no source or contributor's name.  It does not account for the little brother and sister who died in 1879.

Patrick Wright a life time resident of Hancock Co. passed aaway at his home in Hamilton, Monday evening, June 22, at 8:30 o'clock P.M.  He sufferd a heart attack a few days previously, but seemed to be convalescing satisfactorily when a second attack proved fatal.  Mr. Wright was born November 3, 1869 in Fountain Green Twp. near Fountain Green he was the youngest son of Lafayette and Sarah Wilson Wright, who with three half brothers and a sister proceeded him in death.  Mr. Wrights parents passed on when he was a small child and he made his home for mony years with his half brother, John Wright at Webster Illinois.  As he grew to manhood he was a quiet, kind and unassuming, making friends of all his acquaintances and being ever industerious and dependable, he gave full value recieved to his brother and family by the work he accomplished on there farm.  He was united in marriage to Miss Nora L Smith of Fountain Green, October 4, 1905, and to this union nine children were born.  Mr Wright and his family for many years lived in the vicinity of ther old home, but for the past several years have lived in Hamilton.  He is survived by his widow and the following children; Rolland, of Eldora Iowa; Freddie of Camp Wallace, Texas; Mrs. Lois Charles, Ivan and Mrs. Nellie Dunscombe of Peoria; Mrs. Ruth Londrie, of Keokuk Iowa; Lyle of Hamilton, and Norma at home.  One daughter, Mrs. Inez Pilgrim, passed away in 1931.  Twelve grand children, a sister Mrs. Bell Renolds, of Pekin Ill. and a number of nieces and nephews to mourn his passing.  Internment was in the Webster Cemetary, Webster Ill.

Nora L. Smith was the daughter of Sylvester A. Smith and Ardella Mosley.  She was born in Illinois, probably Hancock County, on May 11, 1885 (according to the partial inscription on Patrick's tombstone), and like Patrick, she lost her mother at an early age.  Although the name in the 1900 census shows E. as the middle initial, it appears Nora was working as a hired girl for John and Mollie Barr in Fountain Green Township.

All of the Wright children were most likely born in Hancock County, perhaps Fountain Green Township.  All but Inez, the eldest daughter, survived their father.

i. Roland Wright.  In 1910 he was listed with the middle initial G.  In 1930 there was a Roland R. Wright, 27, born in Illinois, living in Providence Township, Hardin County, Iowa, with his wife, Mary E., 26, born in Missouri.  When Patrick died, son Roland was said to be living in Eldora, Iowa, which is in Hardin County.  According to the Social Security Death Index, a man named Roland Wright, born February 7, 1903, died in Iowa in November of 1961.

ii. Inez Wright, born about 1906.  In 1920 Inez Wright Pilgrim was living in the family home with her little daughter, Doris Lucile.  Patrick's obituary stated that Inez died in 1931; State of Illinois death records indicate Doris died July 19, 1931, in Pilot Grove Township, Hancock County.

iii. Ruth Wright was born about 1909.  About 1926 she married Lewis E. Londrie, son of Lewis Henry Londrie and Rosa E. Roberts.

iv. Lois Darlene Wright, born about 1911.

v. Ivan Marion Wright, born about 1914.

vi. Lyle Francis Wright, born about 1917.

vii. Fred Lee Wright, born about 1918.

viii. Nellie Katherine Wright, born about 1922.

ix. Norma Mildred Wright, born about 1926.
