The Konopinski's started out as KONOPNICKI.The name has changed spelling through the generations,starting when Stani was born,on Feb 5,1915,in Salem,Mass.His entire family spelled their name Konopnicki,but the doctor was drunk when he filled out Stani's birth certificate,and misspelled it as Konopinske.Stani didn't find this out until he went into the Army,and it was to late to change it.It changed again with his son,Stanley.Stanley spells his name as Konopinski.The family traces back to Michael Konopnicki,1879 in Tarnopol,Austria-Hungary.We haven't found his Father's name yet,but his Mother's name was Martha Banach.
Michael married first,Pauline Holda,from Krakow,Poland.He had 2 sons by her,Stani being one of them.She died in 1918,in Salem,Mass.,when Stani was 3 years old.He next married Michaelina Drabik,born Dec 24,1888.They had 7 children.
Stani married Janilou Harrell born Feb 2,1923,in Stratford,Ok,on Mar.7,1943.They had 2 children.Their son,Stanley Kent,changed the spelling to Konopinski,and married Sherry Carriger.They had 3 children.One daughter,Melissa Kay,married James Scott Moore,son of Sheryl (Thon,Puckett) Moore and Jerry Lynn Moore,on Feb 16,1991.They have 3 children.
On Janilou's side,her father was William Asa Harrell,born July 19,1890,in Belcherville,Tx,died July 27,1974,in Del City,Ok.Her mother was Sadie Louella Ledford,born Sep 25,1890,died Oct 8,2001,at the age of 111 and 2 weeks.Sadie had 2 sisters,also born in Sept,in different years,who lived to be 99 and 102.She had a total of 8 brothers and sisters.The Ledfords go back to William Ludford, of 1642, in Albermarle,NC.
