Benjamin-7 Babcock was born, probably at Stonington, Connecticut. He is buried in the Babcock Family Cemetery on Babcock Hill. They resided at Bridgewater, Suquehanna Co., Pennsylvania, until 1818, when they removed to what is now known as Babcock Hill.
Benjamin Babcock (2nd) settled on a tract of land, consisting of several hundred acres (believed 640) on Babcock Hill. This was virgin forest land at the time, 1818, covered with a heavy growth of pine, hemlock, and other trees. With the aid of his sons, Benjamin cleared this land, or portions thereof, building a house and barn of logs. He later constructed a primitave saw mill, located on the creek at the foot of Babcock Hill toward the village of Cadis. Water power was used to operate an old-fashioned "beam" saw, by means of which the heavy trees were fashioned into sills, joists, planking, and boards for the construction of new and better buildings. The old Babcock homestead and at least one of the old barns, constructed of timber of this primitive mill, are still standing.
Upon the death of Benjamin Babcock the land was apportioned among his children. William Dennison Babcock, the oldest son received a grant of land consisting of over 200 acres, located about one half mile north of the homestead farm. The latter, consisting of 306 acres, was left to the other children who had remained at the home. Harriet N. Babcock had married Alexander LaDow and had removed to Ohio. Hellen M. Babcock died in 1843, while Caroline Joshan Babcock and Joanah Babcock died young. So the homestead farm was left to John Bannister Gibson Babcock (1st), Valeria Ann Babcock, and Andrew Jackson Babcock. The Babcock family burying ground is the only portion of the original estate in which the title still remains in the Babcock family as a whole. The old estate and burying ground are located about 10 miles south of Owego, New York, and about 1.5 miles north of Windham, Pennsylvania.

The following list is based on burials reported on a list available at the Tippecanoe County Historical Society (presumably WPA list), plus the TCHS cemetery cards, plus what was found or not found in 1999 by a group of volunteers restoring the cemetery. We have added a little historical information when it was useful for interpreting stones and gravesites we found.
This list is based on research by Janet Walton, Deb Fisher and Holly Schrank, and a search for stones by neighbors of the cemetery using the TCHS list burials (original List) at the cemetery.

The compiler remembers well, in the spring of 1848, Mrs. Brown's patience in suffering, when she quoted from Job, "All the days of my appointed time will I wait till my change come." This hightly esteemed and beloved wife and mother was a Christian woman, a loving friend and neighbor, whose voice was often heard in the Old Miner Meeting-house before 1845, when, in the summer of that year, it was torn down and a new house erected on the same lot. The old house was the scene of many revivals and large gatherings to the church, in which this good woman, a saint of God, by her spiritual gifts, had an active part. The homestead, beautiful for situation, should be rebuilt, and the grandchildren come back from the cold Northwest and make glad these hills and valleys as in days gone by.

BROWN GENEALOGY, Vol. 1,  Boston, The Everett Press Compnay, 1907, by Cyrus Henry Brown, page 47.
Hosmer A. Brown (389) went with his brother Andrew to what is now known as Brownsdale in 1855, and preempted a large tract of land, using in the payment a Land Warrant which was granted his father (385) for services at Stonington, Conn., in the War of 1812. When they came to this wild country there were but two settlers for miles around. Putting in a sawmill, they cut hundreds of acres of timber for lumber, and from this begining sprang the beautiful village of Brownsdale. For two terms Mr. H. A. Brown has represented his district in the State Legislature of Minnesota. Residence in 1905, Brownsdale, Mower Co., Minn.

MEMORIES
by Mrs. Hosmer A. Brown
I'm sitting to night in my prarie home, And the pruple twilight flings Its dusky folds round the sadden'd soul Where memory sits, and sings. Of the days of my sunny-hearted youth, That passed on downy wings.
She brings me dreams of my far off home; The tree close up by the door; I bend my ear to catch the sound Of the waterfall's muffled roar; And watch, where the lilies at anchor tide, For the slip of the flashing oar.
I forget that beneath the homestead roof Stranger voices the echoes awake. 'T is a dream -- the loved and the lost are there, With heart too full to speak, Again I kiss the lines of care On brow and furrowed cheak.
My brother, with his golden hair Swept back from a brow like light; How plain, across the mists of years, He rises to my sight! His lips still wear their olden smile, His eye is sunny light.
One night his feet grew weary, He closed his earnest eyes; And when morning walked the hilltops He was singing in Paradise, And echoes roll round my haunted soul From out the starry skies.
And one -- Oh! softly speak her name, And reverently, and low; She walks upon eternal hills Where stainless lilies blow; But just within the pearly gates She waits for me, I know.
Her saintly face shines on me still Through the twilight calm and clear; I bend my ear to the sighing wind, Her voice I seem to hear; It whispers "Peace" to my waiting soul, And I know that she is near.
Ah well, I shall meet them all again When I reach that shore unknown, With its wondrous city, pearly gates, And everlasting throne.
