The history of my Potter family, in New England, starts with Nathaniel. In 1638 he was admitted as an inhabitant of Aquidneck Island, which is now Portsmouth. Nathnaiel, Robert and George (thought by many to be brothers) were among the twenty-nine signers of a goverment compact there.
There is some thought that the father of Nathaniel1 is George Potter b. 1584 and his wife Martha.
Nathaniel married Dorothy ___. He died in 1644. Dorothy later remarried to John Albro, and had 5 more children. She died in 1696.
Some people have named Dorothy as the daughter of William Wilbour. While this could be true, as their families had lot of interaction between them, I have seen no evidence in print or on line for this placement.
I have not seen a copy of the Potter Family Geneolgy yet , so there may be something there that proves this connection.

Nathaniel born in 1637, married abt. 1664 to Elizabeth Stokes.
Nathaniel's half brother John Albro, also married a Stokes by the name of Mary.
