In 1860, he was living in Chillisquaque Township, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania. He was living with his father Philip Derr, and (presumed) siblings Jeremiah, William, Philip, Mary, Anne, and John, along with two others. He had attended school within the year.

When he enlisted, he was living in Reading, Pennsylvania, and was a laborer. [source: 2]

Description

When he enlisted, he was 5 feet 5 inches tall, and had a light complexion, grey eyes, and light hair. [source: 2]

During the war

He enlisted and was mustered into service on 4 February 1864. He enlisted at Reading, Pennsylvania. He was mustered into service at Reading, Pennsylvania. He was a private, in company F. [sources: 1, 2, 8]

On 23 February 1864, he died, in Convalescent US Army Hospital, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was a private. He died of typhoid pneumonia. He was married. He was buried in the Harmony & Reformed Cemetery, Milton, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania. [source: 3 (26 Feb), 4 (23 Feb), 8]

After the war
