Description

When he enlisted, he was 5 feet 4-1/2 inches, and had a light complexion, grey eyes, and light hair (3).

During the war

He enlisted and was mustered into service on 21 June 1862 (1, 3, 5). He was enlisted for three years, at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, by Lieutenant Closson (3). He was a private in company G (1, 7).

He was discharged at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on surgeon's certificate of disability on 20 December 1862, by order of Brigadier General Montgomery (1, 2, 3, 5). He was a private, in company G (7).

After the war

In 1873/74, he married Emma L [unknown family name] (6). In 1900, she had had seven children, six of whom were alive (6).

In 1900, he was living in Morgan Park, Calumet, Cook County, Illinois (6). He was living with his wife Emma, children Anna and Gabbie [?], and two boarders (6). He was a carpenter (6).

On 29 July 1905, he applied successfully from Illinois for a pension (4, 5).

He again applied for a pension on 5 July 1907 (5).

He died on 12 September 1919, at Morgan Park [?], Illinois (5).
