Currently, the first known ancestor of this family is Jeffrey Parry, who appears amongst the gentry of Carnarvonshire, in North Wales, in the mid seventeenth century. The number of properties owned by them increased over the years through marriages with various heiresses, and descendants served in prominent positions in society, such as members of parliament, or as sheriffs, for several different counties. They also left their mark abroad, with Port Madryn in Patagonia being named after one of the family.
Their pedigree is included here as one of the "Famous Parrys" that researchers are likely to come across. Please note that I am not related to the family, nor am I specifically researching them. The details shown here are derived mainly from secondary sources such as Burke's Landed Gentry and J. E. Griffith's Pedigrees of Anglesey & Carnarvonshire Families. As is often the case, details in some of these sources are contradictory. Following the initial version, I shall therefore gradually be adding notes about such contradictions in the hope that a more accurate pedigree might eventually be established. The reference numbers alongside each individual are to assist in this process.

Parry Pedigrees Index pageFollowing his marriage to his cousin, Margaret Parry, Thomas Parry Jones adopted the additional surname of Parry, thus becoming the "Jones-Parry" family. Further name changes took place amongst their descendants, as they inherited other properties.
