21 Mar 1796 St.-Domingo, W.I., a squadron, including the Africa, Captain Roddam Home, arrived off town of L�ogane with troops, with a view to reducing the area, but was found to be too strongly defended and the Africa had been so seriously damaged in her masts and yards in supporting the assault that she had to go to Jamaica to refit.

21 Mar 1796 in company with the Swiftsure, Leviathan, Africa, Ceres, Severn, Iphigenia, Cormorant, Lark, Le Serin, and Marie Antoinette, at the capture of the schooner Charlotte and Brig Sally.

1 Jan 1799 a hospital ship at Sheerness.

1801 Doubled and sheathed &c.from with 3-inch deal from ports to first futtock-heads and thence to keel with inch stuff.

29 Sep 1803 to be fitted at Sheerness as a block-ship.

May 1805 Northfleet, repairing

9-13 Oct 1805 Royal-Sovereign, Belleisle, Africa, and Agamemnon, joined the Mediterranean at Cadiz fleet, under Nelson.

10 Oct 1805 off Cadiz - the tactical preparations etc. for the forthcoming battle. 20 Oct combined fleet departed Cadiz, fleet manoeuvres.

27-28 Jul 1806 Mars, Superb and Africa, a part of a squadron under Cdre R. G. Keats, in lat. 47� N., long. 7� west when the Mars sighted and went in chase of a French frigate squadron, but were unable to keep the Mars in sight ; after a long chase the Mars captured the French frigate Rhin, which was purchased into the service.

May - Oct 1808 in the Baltic with a fleet under V.-adm Sir J Saumarez.

30 Aug 1808 joined the Centaur, Implacable and Swedish fleet blockading the Russians in the port of Rogerswick.

15 Oct 1808 whilst protecting her convoy was attacked by a large flotilla of small Danish gun-vessels etc. which caused the ship considerable damage.

28 Jan 1811 departed Spithead (Captain Bastard), with the convoy for the West Indies.

3 Feb 1811 arrived Plymouth Sound.

6 Dec 1811 reported at Plymouth to have been dismasted in a gale on the coast of America, but had been refitted and departed to Bermuda.

10 Feb 1811 was at Bermuda when the Halifax departed for Spithead.

5 Jul 1812 despatched as part of a squadron to cruise off the American coast and on the 9th was joined by the Guerri�re.

16-19 Jul 1812 a part of a squadron cruising on the coast of America which chased the United States' 44-gun frigate Constitution.

Hope, tender to the Africa, 14 Aug 1812 captured a U.S. privateer, the 6 gun schooner Lewis, with 30 men, off Halifax. Prize money arising from the proceeds of the capture will be available on 12 Feb 1818.

23 Dec 1812 arrived Cork from Halifax.

29 Dec 1813 Plymouth, the officers and some of the crews of the late Guerriere, and Barbadoes frigates, were taken to Ireland in the Africa, and have been brought on here in the Leonidos frigate. The Africa is understood to have returned to the Coast of America with another convoy.
