19 Jun 1886 Malta. HMS Ships Alexandra, Temeraire, Superb, torpedo ram Polyphemus, and 2 torpedo boats, all from Suda, have arrived.

Serving in Greek Waters.

The British naval force at present in Greek waters, is the most formidable of the International squadron, being larger in fact than the combined forces of the other Powers participating in the demonstration.

The Temeraire, the flag ship of the Duke of Edinburgh, is an armour plated barbette ship of 8,450 tons, carrying 8 guns. The other vessels of the British fleet include the:

Albacore, a composite gunboat of 500 tons, with 4 guns ; the
Carysfort, a 14 gun corvette of 2,380 tons ; the
Dreadnought, an iron turret vessel of 10,820 tons, with 4 guns.; the
Dee, an iron gunboat, with a tonnage amounting to 363, and possessing 3 guns ; the
Don, which is practically a duplicate of the Dee ; the
Hecla, a 6 gun iron torpedo depot ship, of 6,400 tons ; the
Iris, a steel despatch vessel of 3,700 tons, with 10 guns ; the
Falcon, a composite gun vessel, with 3 guns, and having 780 tons ; the
Superb, an armour plated vessel of 9,170 tons, possessing 16 guns ; the
Sultan, a ship of a similar description, but having 9,200 tons register and 12 guns ; the
Polyphemus, a steel torpedo ram of 2,640 tons ; the
Neptune, a 9310 ton turret ship, with 8 guns ; and the
Dolphin, a composite sloop of 925 tons, with 4 guns.

Our Fleet receives additional strength by the presence of torpedo boats, Nos. 9, 10, 11, 21, and 22, the last two named of which were ordered from Malta on 27th of last month.

There are moreover the following British vessels at Malta: The

Cruiser, a 860 ton sloop of 4 guns ; the
Alexandra, a double iron ship of 9490 tons, with 12 guns ; the
Humber, troopship, having 1,640 tons ; the
Agamemnon, a double iron-plated turret ship, with 6 guns and 9,610 tons register ; and the
Thunderer, a similarly constructed vessel of 9,330 tons, with 4 guns.
