PURDON GENEALOGY Scotland to America (published 2000) I have personally conducted comprehensive research on my Purdon ancestry extending over a twenty-year period. During this time I visited the various areas in Ontario where my ancestors originally homesteaded and were buried. I found it fascinating reading old newspapers from the 1800s and obtaining an insight into life during the 19th century. I spent considerable time researching the various available records at the National Archives of Canada in Ottawa, and the Ontario Archives in Toronto. No research would be complete without personally visiting the Family History Library of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Salt Lake City, Utah, to view their vast collection of genealogical materials.
As a result of this extensive research, I have compiled a book on our Purdon family. The focus of this publication is to detail the first four to five generations of Purdons born in Ontario after Robert Purdon immigrated in 1821. Information on Robert's descendants, including birthdates and places, marriage details, death dates and burial information, is provided. In addition, maps, photographs, charts, articles from newspapers, along with obituaries, wills, and information from various history books have also been included. The book is 280 pages, bound in a soft cover.
Endnotes are provided at the end of each chapter for easy reference. All sources are noted. A bibliography and index of all persons in the book are also included.
