We could really use your help, in putting together a historical
record of events and happenings ... of this grand old place :)
Some of you might not be aware, but Jerry Search has a project that has been on the back burner for some time now ... and we want to try and help and encourage him to make this become a BIGGER reality :)
Anyone with any old pictures of your days at ye ol' Glacier Falls ... scan them and share a copy with us ... if you don't have access to a scanner ... contact us and perhaps [if your still living to southern California] we can meet up with my laptop and portable scanner :)
So that we can help Jerry .... please contribute where you can [especially in the old picture department] ...
We are looking for anyone with any tidbits of history and/or stories to share about the rink, any thing of interest that took place during your time frame at this grand old place ... and/or things that you heard about or were told about :)
When did the rink officially open ?
Who were all the owners/partners of the rink ... how many of them were there ?
Managers of the rink ... anyone know the chain and what years they served ? i.e. Gene Ashley, Biff ____ , Billy Kall, Renee Daisy who else, and when ?
Office secretary / bookkeepers ?
Box Office people ?
the door greeters ... was there any others that stood out like the icon "Al Thall" ?
Rink Guards ... can we compile a list of them all ? ? ? short and long term employment ...
Skate pro shop ?
Skate counter ?
Maintenance people ?
Zamboni drivers ?
First Aid people ?
Figure Skating instructors ?
Notable "famous" skaters that practiced and/or frequented the rink ?
broomball events ?
When did the ice rink officially close ? 1984 ?
Glacier Falls Restaurant ...
Managers / lease holders of the restaurant and when ? ? i.e. Diane Nelson and her parents, Marge ____ and her husband, who else ?
the snack bar was managed by the Restaurant ...
snack bar attendants ?
Restaurant help ...
cooks ? i.e. Rita [Ledbetter] Wilder [before her KEZY and currently KLOS radio days] ...
waitress / waiters ? i.e. Darlene Mc Farlane ...
bus boys ?
dish washers ?
Some random thoughts ...
where was the reunion in 1984 ? Is this the one Carolyn Valentine help put together ?my brother Dave remembers a reunion/ get together at Silver Lake, and he thought it was near Wrightwood ?
the reunion my sister Sandy help put together, I believe was before 1982 [exact year ?] and it was held at Mile Square Park ...there was one reunion that I made a large brown banner out of a burlap material ... when was this ?
