    RILEY--Loye E. Vanstory, 65, of the Elbo Lake Community northeast of Manhattan, died Monday, Jan. 19, 2009, at his home.

    Mr. Vanstory was born Jan. 23, 1943, at Covington, Tenn., the son of Leon and Inez (Scroggins) Vanstory.

    He was a tile and carpet layer for Irvines Floor Covering for 27 years. After retiring he worked for Orscheln Farm & Home in Manhattan. He had served in the U.S. Army for six years and was a member of the Black Jack American Legion Post #260. He married Alice Sprecker on July 3, 1963 in Manhattan. He was preceded in death by his father, Leon in 1993.

    Survivors include his wife, Alice Vanstory of the home; two sons, Bill Vanstory and wife Tracy of Maple Hill, Brian Vanstory and wife Kathy of Alma; his mother, Inez Vanstory of Covington, Tenn.; two brothers, Harry Vanstory of Henning, Tenn., Dickie Vanstory and wife Polly of Ripley, Tenn.; one sister, Eva Fortner and husband Jimmy of Covington, Tenn.; and five grandchildren.

    A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Holmes-Pfeifley Funeral Home in Riley with Pastor Devin Wendt officiating. Burial will be in the Leonardville United Methodist Cemetery south of Leonardville.

    Respect calls may be made anytime Thursday or Friday at the funeral home, where family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday.

    A memorial has been established for the American Lung Association.
