    Earl Samuel Scroggins, 68, of Jonesboro died Tuesday, Sept. 10, at his residence.

    Born in Mountain View, he had served in the Army as a military policeman, was a carpenter and a musician and of the Baptist belief.
    Survivors include three daughters, Linda Lee of Manteno, Ill., Angela Scroggins of Jonesboro and Sharon Scroggins of Tampa, Fla; two sons, Roger Scroggins and Greg Scroggins, both of Jonesboro; two sisters, Ruby Stowe of Tyler, Texas, and Barbara Jones of Paris, Calif; and four grandchildren, Andrew Lee, Samuel "Alex" Scroggins, Rachel Scroggins and Heather Lee.
    He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Jean Manning Scroggins; his parents, Frank and Georgia Price Scroggins; a son; a sister; and a brother.
    Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in Manning No. 1 Cemetery, with Bob Smith officiating. Bryan Funeral Home of Hoxie is in charge of arrangements.
    Pallbearers will be Dennis Mathes, Sonny Ackerman, Steve Handford, Andy Lee, Curt Bartlett and Tom Reeves.
    Visitation will be from noon to 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

    Earl Samuel Scroggins, 68, of Jonesboro, formerly of Lawrence County, died Sept. 10, 2002, at his home, following a lengthy illness.

    Born March 7, 1934, at Mountain View, he was an MP in the U.S. Army, a carpenter and a musician. He was of the Baptist belief.

    He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Jean Manning, in 1959; a son, Brian Keith Scroggins; his parents, Frank and Georgia Price Scroggins; a sister, Jean Smith; and a brother, Barney Calvin Scroggins.

    Survivors include three daughters, Linda Lee, Manteno, Ill., Angela Scroggins, Jonesboro, and Sharon Scroggins, Tampa, Fla; two sons, Roger Scroggins and Greg Scroggins, both of Jonesboro; two sisters, Ruby Stowe, Tyler, Texas, and Barbara Jones, Paris, Calif; and four grandchildren, Andrew Lee, Samuel Scroggins, Rachel Scroggins and Heather Lee.
