Census Returns

1901 census (RG13\1597\f74\p35) for 2 Whitfield Road, St Stephens Parish, East Ham, Plashet, has:

Henry Weston 57, born London Hoxton, Essex, East Ham, Corn Sampler;
Sarah, WI, 53, born City;
Ada E, 24, DA, born Limehouse;
Henry J, 22, Locksmith, born Limehouse;
William T, 19, Plumber, b Limehouse;
George R, 17, Farrier Blacksmith, b Limehouse;
Blanche M, 13, Limehouse;
Amy B, 10, b Limehouse;
Joseph E, 5, born Limehouse

He was at 117 Plashet Lane before aged seven.

Took an electrician's course in Loughborough in 1920-22, living in Forest Row, Loughborough. Then back to 41 Goldsmith Ave. with Liz and Harold. Mr Howson lived next door at no 43. He used to be in the army - married an Irish woman. Presumably it was he who had a pike in a glass case, which Cyril remembers from his childhood.

He was a clerk when he married. The marriage was by banns and the witnesses were George Cecil Fairchild and Elsie Dixon, presumably a step sister in law of Minnie's. The certificate is signed by the rector, Philip Reed.

They lodged with a Mr and Mrs Fairchild at Burton. He worked in Lincoln for about a year before going to Loughborough in 1920 for two years.
