W.H. HEMSTEAD
35, married, residence Chicago. Formerly with Rock Island as brakeman and conductor. Entered service of the C&E Oct. 22, 1890. Suspended 10 days April 3, 1891 for carelessness in making running switch. Promoted to conductor, Oct. 1, 1891.

Suspended 5 days from March 24th for running ahead of 1st 81 from Rochester to Leiters with a 31 order to let 1st 81 pass him at Rochester, March 18th, 1893.

Stabbed by Antonio Ingreen, an Italian, at Chicago Oct. 31st, from the effects of which he died Nov. 19th, 1893. Ingreen sentenced to 8 years hard labor.
