The Creek "Old Series" cards were compiled c. 1898 and predate the Dawes cards compiled 1899-1907.
These cards often have information that is different than the final Dawes cards
such as more specific blood percentages and different names. They also
record persons who died just prior to the compiling of the final Dawes cards. These
cards are arranged by district, card number, and then by family groups. The "Old Series" card numbers DO NOT correspond with any of the Dawes card or roll numbers. The card number can only be found on the 1895 Creek Payroll next to the name of the person. There are 19 boxes of records. The Creek Freedmen cards are arranged alphabetically by last name.
These records are part of Record Group 75 (BIA records) and are
housed in National Archives branch in Fort Worth, Texas. Please see how to access original records at the National Archives. These records are listed in the BIA inventory, entry 124. The accession
or location number is: A-6-86-6
