Obituary of Charles Edgar Hines

This is the obituary for my grandfather, Charles Edgar Hines.

Memorial Services for Charles E. "Chick" Hines, 71, of Sulphur will be at 2 p.m. today, Feb. 26, in the First Baptist Church.

Dr. Ronnie Burke and Dr. James Samples will officiate. Burial in Mimosa Pines Cemetery will be under the direction of Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home.

Mr. Hines died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2000, in Sulphur.

A native of Lake Charles, he was a supervisor and took an early retirement from Firestone Synthetic Rubber Co. in 1981. He served in the R.S. Marine Corps from 1946 to 1948. He was honorably discharged and awarded the World War II Victory Medal. He was a member and a decon of the First Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, June Hines of Sulphur, three sons, Chic Earl Hines of Haynesville, Kim Gordon Hines of Sulphur and Rex Marshall Hines of Culpepper, Va.; one brother, Lewis Hines of Port Neches, Texas; one sister; Sybil Newsome of Groves, Texas; and three grandchildren, Aimee Marie Carter, Morgan Taylor Hines and Jessica Lee Hines.

He was preceded in death by one grandson, Travis Hines.

Memorial donations may be made made to the Agin' Cajuns Choir at the First Baptist Church.
