Notes for Christopher Frederick KOLKMEYER
Chistopher and his (probable) brother Fred were stonemasons in the Jefferson City area for over thirty years. They were Catholic and attended St. Peter’s. In 1870, they were living in a largely German area of town, near daughter Elizabeth and her husband Joseph Stampfli and his father.

They had 11 children total according to the 1900 census entry for Christopher's wife. The members of the family appear to have switch between first and middle names - the Henry, age 11 in 1850 is likely the Andrew age 22 in 1860, and the Mary age 7 in 1850 is Elizabeth age 18 in 1860, and Ellen age 4 mon in 1860 is Adalina age 10 in 1870. If those assumptions are true, then their other children must have died very young.

Obituary (copied from Find a Grave entry [672, 23186073]):

from the Cole Co. Democrat, July 31, 1890

Mr. Christopher Kolkmeyer, for more than fifty years a prosperous and influential citizen of this couty, departed this life on Wednesday morning of this week at about 4 o'clock, having ben sick for nearly six months. He was born in Germany in 1809 and had he lived until the last day of next month, would have been eighty one years old.
Mr. Kolkmeyer, with his wife, came to this couny in 1838, where he has lived continuously since, always engaged in a prosperous business. Ten children were born to them, five of whom are living. The widow survives him and is seriously affected by the loss of her partner through their long journey through life.
