I am the fruit of a million years,
The son of ten thousand sires.
There is blood in me that has felt the flames
Of a caveman's altar fires.

I rode with Attila the Hun
Who reddened the gallic loam
I climbed the Alps with Hannibal's men
And fought at the rape of Rome.

They stoned me once to a martyr's death
On a Babylonian plain
I was once crowned king of Britain's Isle
And hung as a thief in Spain.

Poet and beggar. priest and king
Warrior and craven's kin
Born of their sorrow and hope and fear,
Folly and faith and sin.

The world looks on me as one alone,
But the eyes of the world are blind,
For thousands move in my surging blood
And millions walk behind.

Introducing the family of Ray and Ann Bolton....

This genealogy is intended to help people make connections with the various lines included here and does not include living descendants. At least, that was my intention, but with several thousand people in my database, editting was a formitable task! Sometimes, when I have no death date, I don't know if a person is living or not. I picked the same cutoff for privacy purposes that the US Census uses... 72 years. This work also contains no information on the sources of the information but data can be provided upon request. I have additional data on ancestors going back further in some lines but space dictated that they be trimmed. If you think you are connected with any of these lines, send me your information and I will get back with you.

The Elusive Ancestor,    by Merrell Kenworthy

I went searching for an ancestor, I cannot find him still.
He moved around from place to place and did not leave a will.
He married where a courthouse burned, he mended all his fences.
He avoided any man who came to take the U.S. Census.
He always kept his luggage packed, this man who had no fame,
And every 20 years or so, this rascal changed his name.

His parents came from Europe. They should be on some list
of passengers to the U.S.A., but somehow they got missed.
He died before the county clerks decided to keep records.
No family Bible has emerged, in spite of all my efforts.
To top it off, this ancestor who caused me many groans,
Just to give me one more pain, bethrothed a girl named JONES.
