JOYNER GENERATION 1


I have not done a lot of research on this line, yet.
I would like to correpond with anyone interested in this line.

- SAMUEL W. JOYNER
He was born about February 28, 1805 based on the information on his grave marker. It indicates he died at the age of 48 years, 9 months. His age is given as 45 in the 1850 South Carolina census for St. James Goose Creek Parish. His occupation is given as "planter" with a real estate value of $200. He married MARY BALLENTINE about 1828. She was born after September 24, 1812, based on her age (37) given in the 1850 census taken on that date. Her age given in the 1860 census was 47 in St. John's Berkeley Parish, Black Oak Post Office. She was a daughter of JOHN J. and RULANEY BALLENTINE. He died in St. James Goose Creek Parish on November 28, 1853 and is buried in the Friendship Methodist Cemetery in Cross, Berkeley County, South Carolina. I have not found a grave for her. She may have remarried after his death and is buried under another name. They had issue below.

According to his age (22) given in the 1850 South Carolina census, he was born before September 24, 1828 in South Carolina. His occupation is given as "labourer". Not enumerated with the family in 1860.

- TYMOTHY JOYNER
According to his age (20) given in the 1850 South Carolina census, he was born before September 24, 1830 in South Carolina. His occupation is given as "labourer". Not enumerated with the family in 1860.

- SARAH R. JOYNER
According to her age (7) given in the 1850 South Carolina census, she was born before September 24, 1843 in South Carolina. In the 1860 census her age is given as 15.

- SAMUEL W. JOYNER, Jr.
According to his age (1) given in the 1850 South Carolina census, he was born before September 24, 1849 in South Carolina. In the 1860 census his age is given as 10.
