Ephraim COX

Ephraim Cox ca 1807-ca1882

There are not too many Ephraim Coxes.
Why is it such a bear to track this Ephraim Cox??
Searching from the Carolinas, through KY, TN to Indiana...

Ephraim Cox is said to have been born about 1807 in Rowan County NC. He married Sarah ROSS in 1831 in Warrick County IN. Warrick County is on the Ohio River. Did he go there by that great super highway on a flatboat?? Did he come overland through Kentucky and/or Tennessee? Ephraim died in 1882 or 1883 supposedly in Warrick County, IN. He is found in the censuses of Warrick from 1840-1880, then nothing.

Ephraim and Sarah were the parents of these children. (From census information and family Bible- information gathered by Barbara Cole [email protected] :

Way back when, (mid 1700s) there is a Cox family in North Carolina that is possibly headed by an Ephraim Cox Sr. He may be the father of these three brothers:

Moses Cox, born about 1735, who married Sarah Pace and died in Rowan County NC.

Israel Cox , born about 1736 and married Mary Quick.

And Ephraim Cox who was born about 1743, married Susannah Person who was born in Rowan Co. NC.

These sons named some of their children after each other . Seems there could be a link up of these lines to the Ephraim in question, but so far the missing links have not been found. If you are researching this family please contact Barbara Cole. Her email address is [email protected] She has gathered much info about this family group and many other Cox families in the areas and times. She would love to share notes as she looks for Ephraim Cox who was born about 1807.
