ELLA LEE ANDERSON SISTRUNK

(1919 - 1998)

Ella was born the 1st of 11 children to Howard and Mary Boyd Anderson.  She attended school in Talladega County.  She left school before entering high school to work at home on the farm.  She married Ulysses Sistrunk at the age of 19 and worked for several years as a housekeeper before leaving Alabama for Youngstown, Ohio in 1952.  She separated from Ulysses and he later died.  She worked in restaurants until she retired.

Although she never had children of her own, she raised her adopted son, Larry, until he graduated.  She later took in Larry's two young son's and raised them.

She had a strong love for children and a loving kind heart.  She would help anyone and give him or her a place to stay.  Ella Lee loved to drink and would often become intoxicated.  She loved clothes and dressings up.  She also had the "biting finger" family trait, which she inherited from her mother when she became upset.

In her later years, Ella became an active church worker and a member of the Nurses Guild.

Ella passed away May 11, 1998.

We love and miss you Ella.

Mary Anderson Tippins
