The
Henry PAYNE Story Chapter 2: Woodville & the Workhouse,
by Brett Payne of Tauranga, New
Zealand
My gg-grandfather Henry PAYNE (1842-1907) lived in Woodville for a
short while in the late 1840s and early 1850s. During this time,
he and his mother had contact with several Woodville families, who may
or may not have been related. Other surnames mentioned - and of particular
interest to me - include ATKIN(S), BAGNALL, BENFIELD, HALL, HO(U)LT, LUNN,
SALMON, SWEET. Henry was one of the pupils who formed the first intake
of St Stephen's Daily & Sunday School, on Wednesday 1st March 1848
