Nicholas Cawton married Anne Rastell at St. Peter at
Arches, Lincoln, Lincolnshire, England on 17 Aug 1595. (1) Judging from the date
of the marriage, he must have been born about 1570. He and his wife had at
least four daughters. The first two are mentioned as wives in his will of
1630. However, his two youngest daughters, Jane and Thomasine, did not
marry until 1632, two years later. An interesting aside: Jane and
Thomasine married on the same date, but in different churches! The will of his
wife Anne Rastell, written in 1636, confirms that Jane did marry William Dawson
and Thomasine did marry William Coddington.
As noted, Nicholas Cawton wrote his will in Jan 1630. He named his wife
Anne, his two married daughters, Bridget and Alice, and his daughters Jane and
Thomasine, still unmarried. He also named a grandson, James Burwell, son
of his daughter Bridget. (2)
