He was a merchant in Hadley, where he went in 1659.
During King Philip's War Hadley was an important place,
and Samuel Porter took care of most of the wounded soldiers
who were brought there and did much for their provision
and comfort.
Desc of John Porter, Vol I, p 3:
Samuel Porter, son of JOHN PORTER and Rose, married (???), 1659, Hannah Stanley,
born in England, daughter of THOMAS STANLEY, who came from England in the ship
"Planter" to Lynn, Mass., in 1635. Freeman of the Colony of Massachusetts March
4, 1635; ancient and honorable artillery company 1640. He removed to Hartford,
Conn., in 1636, thence to Hadley, Mass., in 1659, where he died January 30,
1663.
Samuel Porter was a merchant, and died September 6, 1689. Mrs. Hannah Porter
died December 18, 1702.

1. Samuel Porter, born April 6, 1660, married Joanna Cooke.
2. Thomas Porter, born April 17, 1663, died May 27, 1668.
3. Hezekiah Porter, born January 7, 1665, married Hannah
Coles.
4. John Porter, born December 12, 1666, married Mary Butler.
5. Hannah Porter, born (???), 1668, married John Brown.
6. Mehitabel Porter, born September 15, 1673, married
Nathaniel Goodwin.
7. Experience Porter, born August 5, 1676, married Abigail
Williams.
8. Ichabod Porter, born June 17, 1678, married Dorcas Marsh.
9 Nathaniel Porter, born November 15, 1680, married
Mehitabel Buell.
10. Stanley Porter, born April 1, 1683, married Thankful Babcock.
