Emma S. Hogle was born on 14 Mar 1849. She died in 1874 in Bailey's Harbor, WI. She married Daniel Edward Rowe on 20 Aug 1870 in Kenosha, WI.

Daniel Rowe married Mrs. Emma Hogle Kellogg, (born March 14, 1849, the daughter of Henry and Mary Cherry Hogle), on August 20, 1870 in Kenosha Co. When Emma was little, her father went to California during the 1850 Gold Rush and was never heard of again. Emma's mother died soon after and Emma was adopted by a wealthy childless couple, the Kelloggs. Emma and Daniel had two daughters, there is also mention of an infant son. Their children were born in Kenosha, WI. Emma died in 1874. Our family never knew about this first family and when they were discovered, it was assumed the children all died as only Nellie appeared in the Census of 1870 and then disappeared. However, Nellie (Helen) did survive and was adopted by the Kelloggs who had also adopted her mother, Emma. She married and had 5 children. Emma's parents (Henry Hogle left the family for the Gold Rush in California and never returned; Mary Cherry died a two years later. Emma was adopted by James Madison Kellogg and Lemira Tarbell Fowler Kellogg about 1851 after Emma's biological mother died.
