Amelia, who would have been three years old is not listed.

LDS Church Record of Birth, Salt Lake Fifteenth Ward Record of Members (through 1904): #026,675 (GS #6502, pt. 61). The record shows "Thomas Howells, Seventy, entry #195, born 23 May 1831, in Penderin [Pendryn], South Wales."

LDS Church Temple Index Card to the Endowment House Temple Records, for Thomas Howells: No. 154, Book B, page 8. The record shows Thomas "born 23 May 1831 in Benderry, Breen, S. Wales [Penderyn, Beconshire, South Wales]. His parents are listed as "John and Guenllian [Gwenllian] Howells [Howell]. Moreover, he is noted to have been "baptized on 12 October 1849, married Ann Evans Francis [his first wife] on 12 October 1853, endowed 31 August 1855 [21 August 1855], and died 17 October 1883."

1860 United States Census: "15th Ward, Great Salt Lake City, Great Salt Lake County, Utah Territory, page No. 146; taken 7 July 1860." Family #68 is that of "Thomas Howells, age 28, bricklayer, and Francis [Ann Francis, his wife], age 26, both born in Wales." Their living children, "all born in Utah," are then listed, as follows: "Thomas, age 6; Eleanor, age 3; Elizabeth [Ann Elizabeth], age 1; and Julia [Judah], age 1 month [2 months]."

1870 United States Census: "15th Ward, Great Salt Lake City, Great Salt Lake County, Utah Territory, page No. 19; taken 19 July 1870." Family #150 is that of "Thomas Howells, age 36 [39], stone mason [Thomas was actually in Wales on his mission at this time], and Ann, keeping house, age 34 [37], both born in Wales." Their living children, "all born in Utah," are then listed, as follows: "Thomas, age 16, at school; Eleanor, age 12, at home; Ann [Ann Elisabeth], age 11, at school; Judah, age 9, at home; Amelia, age 8, at home; Benjamin, age 6, at home; John, age 4, at home; and Daniel, age 1 [21 months], at home."

1880 United States Census Household Record, for Salt Lake City, Salt Lake County, Utah: Family History Library Film #1255337; NA Film Number T9-1337, page number 64B. The census was taken after the death of Thomas' first wife, Ann Evans Francis, in 1874. Thomas married his second wife, Agnes Chambers, 24 June 1880, but evidently she had not joined the Howells' household by the time this census was made. Thomas' and Ann's daughter, Eleanor F., who was keeping house for the family at the time of recording, is listed on the record as "Ellen F., age 22."

Death Certificate for Thomas Howells: State of Utah Certificate of Death, Registered Number 11749-294. According to the record, he was born 23 May 1831, died 17 October 1883, "of inflam[ed] bowels," and was interred in the "Salt Lake City Cemetery, Plat F/Block 3/Lot 1." Mistakenly, on the document, however, he is listed as "Thomas B. Howells" [Thomas P. Howells] and his father as "John Price Howells [John Howell]"; his mother was Gwenllian Price Howell.
