This Indenture
made this twenty seventh Day of August in the year of our Lord Christ one
thousand seven hundred and sixty one Between John
Clement of the Parish of Raleigh in the County of Amelia of the one
part and John Hughes of Cumberland County and the Parish of South ham of
the other Party Witnesseth that the said John
Clement for Divers Good causes and Considerations him thereto Moving
but more especially for and in Consideration of the Sum of Thirty Pounds
current Money of Virginia to him in hand paid by the said John Hughes the
Receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge hath given Granted Bargaind Sold
Aliened Released and Confirmed to the said John Hughes and to his Heirs
and Assigns forever a Certain Tract or Parsel of Land Lying and being in
the County aforesaid Containing thirty acres be the same more or less and
bounded as follows, to wit, Begining at John
Clements line thence along James Seays line to the Bent Creek thence
up the Creek as it Meanders to a spring thence along a line of markt Trees
on the upper side of the Creek Round the spring about forty yards including
the spring to the Creek and up the Creek as it meanders to Jacob Seas line
then along Jacob Seays line to John
Clements old survey'd Line the along the old line to the begining And
all Buildings Woods and underwoods standing growing upon the Premises and
all ways Eadments Profits commodities and appurtenances Whatsoever thereunto
belonging or in any wise appertaining and the Reversion and Reversions Remainder
and Remainders thereof and all Right title use trust Interest property Claim
and Demand of him the said John Clement
of and in all and Singular the Premises with all and singular their Incedents
and all Evidences Writing or Minuments for concerning the said Land and
Premises To have and to hold the said tract or Parcel of Land with all and
Singular the Premises therein before mentioned ment or intended to be hereby
granted with all and every their appurtenances unto the said John Hughes
and to his Heirs & assigns forever from the said John
Clement and his Heirs and Assigns forever the said Tract or Parcel of
Land and all and singular the Premises herein before mentioned with all
the appurtenances unto the said John Hughes his Heirs and assigns and to
his & their only Proper use and uses against the Challenge Claim and
Demand of all Persons whatsoever shall and will Warrant and forever by these
Presents defend In Witness whereof the John
Clement Hath hereunto set his hand and seal the day and year above Written

Memorandum that on the twenty seventh Day of August 1761 Peasable Possession
of the within mentioned land and Premises was granted to the within named
John Hughes by the within mentioned John
Clement Covenanter of these Presents.
At a Court held for Amelia County the 27th Day of August 1764
This Indenture and the Memorandum endorsed were acknowledged by the within
named John Clement Party thereto
and ordered to be recorded and Frances the Wife of the said John personally
apeared in Court and having been first Privily examined as the Law directs
voluntarily relinquished her Right of Dower in the Lands and Premises conveyed
by the said Indenture.
