George the Third
& c. To all & c. Know ye that for divers good causes and considerations
but more especially for & in consideration of the sum of fifteen shillings
of good and lawful money for our use paid to our Receiver General of our
Revenues in this our Colony and Dominion of Virginia We have given granted
and confirmed and by these presents for us our heirs and successors Do give
grant and confirm unto James Clement
one certain Tract or parcel of Land containing one hundred and sixteen Acres
lying and being in the county of Pittsylvania on Potter's Creek and bounded
as followeth, to wit, Beginning at a white oak and pine in Benjamin Lankford's
line thence new lines South forty seven degrees East fifty six poles to
a gum South seventeen degrees West one hundred and twelve poles crossing
Fox branch to a white oak in Robinson's line thence along his lines South
eighty six degrees West one hundred and ten poles crossing Potter's Creek
to a shrub white oak thence new lines North twenty eight degrees West one
hundred and four poles to a spanish oak in Lankford's line thence along
the same North eighty four degrees East one hundred and sixty poles crossing
Potter's Creek to the beginning. With all & c. To have hold & c.
To be held & c. Yielding and Paying & c. Provided & c. In Witness
& c. Witness our Trusty and welbeloved Worborne Baron de Botetourt our
Lieutenant and Governor General of our said Colony and Dominion at Williamsburg
under the seal of our said Colony, the fourteenth day of July one thousand
seven hundred and sixty nine In the ninth year of our Reign.
