FULLER, (Richard) Buckminster [1895-1983] -- American inventor (geodesic dome) and engineer

Relationship to me: 18C3
FULLER family Outline Descent Tree(s) ODT
Contents:

Of his 25 U.S. patents, his most familiar is the geodesic dome, the lightest, strongest, and most cost-effective structure ever devised. It is able to enclose more space without internal support than any other structure.

He documented the feasibility of a dome two miles in diameter that would enclose mid-town Manhattan in a temperature-controlled environment, and pay for itself within ten years from the savings of snow-removal costs alone.

His father-in-law was the architect and muralist, James Monroe ¤Hewlett.  -30-
