A grandson of the industrialist
¤John D. Rockefeller,
Nelson Rockefeller was graduated (1930) from

¤Franklin D. Roosevelt as coordinator
(1940-44) of inter-American affairs. He then became assistant
secretary of state (1944-45) for Latin American affairs,
head (1950-51) of the International Development Advisory Board,
undersecretary of health, education, and welfare (1953-54), and

he resigned as governor to establish and chair the National
