THE FLOOD OF 26 APRIL, 1957
NORTH SIDE OF COURTHOUSE SQUARE
"Looking northeast of north side of
square. City Drug (left center of photo) had approximately 36 inches
of water gushing through store shortly after photograph was taken.
All inventory was lost."
Hamilton National Bank is at the left edge
of the picture. My parents were in their store--Crain's Shoe
Repair--on the corner at the east end of this block. Their
sandbagged front door was at an angle; hence, they had no flood
damage. Gerald's Feed Store, the store next door west, lost all of
their inventory as water raged through that building.
