  The following is from Joy Russell of the Madison County Genealogical and Historical Society. She is not a relative, but a researcher who actually knew Loran Wells personally. She was one of his students:
  
  Loren Artis Ward Wells, born 22 Nov 1897 died 26 June 1973, is buried in Upper Campground Cemetery at Kingston, Madison County, Arkansas. Evidently he took the name of "Wells" from his step-father, Wiley Wells. Loren A. Wells moved to Madison County, Arkansas, about 1965, and was my science teacher at Huntsville Middle School in 1967-1969.
  
  When Loren Artis Wells enlisted in World War I at Custer County, Oklahoma, he listed Wiley Wells as his nearest relative.
  
  I remember Loren A. Wells very well, as he taught science for many years at Huntsville, Arkansas, where I attended school. When I had him for a science teacher in the mid 1960's, he looked very old and was very wrinkled. I can remember he always wore a suit and tie everyday, which was unusual for this area.
  
  I looked at his draft registration on Ancestry.com and saw his signature on that document. That was in 1916 (I believe) and his signature looked identical to the one on my report cards in the 1960's.
  
  Yes, Loren married and his wife, Abbey Rae HICKS Wells is buried beside him. I only know of two children that they had. Their son, Dwight Wells, was born about 1947 and graduated from Huntsville (Arkansas) High School in 1966. He always had a fast car and was very good looking.
