Mrs. Sumpter Pierce, who has been sick for several days at her father's,
Mr. Dave Webb's, went to her home yesterday. We are glad to know she
is better.

Sumpter L. Pierce Buried At Tilden Monday At 2 P.M.
Died At Home Of Daughter In Amory
Sumpter L. Pierce, farmer and lifelong resident
of Tilden community died of a stroke at 12:30 a.m. Sunday in Amory at the
home of his daughter, Mrs. Ethel Howell after an illness of four years.
He was 77.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at Tilden Church
of Christ with Rev. Paul Murphy officiating. Burial was in Union Grove
Cemetery with Hawkins Funeral Home in charge. He had been a member
of Tilden Church of Christ 45 years.
Mr. Pierce leaves his wife, Mrs. Bettie Ann Pierce;
three sons, Marshall Pierce of Fulton, Lawrence Pierce of Amory and George
Pierce of Jacksonville, Fla., his daughter, Mrs. Howell; a brother, C.A.
Pierce of Fulton; and one grandchild.

Mrs. Pierce Rites Held
Dies Saturday in Aberdeen
Fulton - Funeral services for Mrs. Nettie Ann Pierce, 89, who died Saturday,
were held Sunday at the Tilden Church of Christ.
Burial was in the Union Grove Cemetery with McNeece Morris
Funeral Home here in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Pierce died about
11 a.m. Saturday morning at the home of her daughter in Aberdeen.
She was formally of the Tilden community of Itawamba County.
Survivors include three sons, Marshall of Fulton, George
of Jacksonville, Fla., and Lawrence of Jackson; one daughter, Mrs. Leon Howell,
Aberdeen; four sisters, Mrs. Allen Clayton, Fulton, Mrs. Cortis Bowen, Fulton,
Mrs. Mae Spencer, Center Rose, Texas, and Mrs. Effie Thorn, Euclace, Wisconsin;
and one grandchild.
Pallbearers were Clyde Lyle, Howard Clayton, Audie Clayton,
Wyman Williams, Hershell Wallace, and John Paul Tucker.
Marshall C. Pierce
(md. Velvie Corrine Steele)
Marshall and Velvie Corrine lived in Tilden and Fulton.
They had one daughter. He was a farmer and a night watchman.
He passed away in 1980, at the age of 73.
Lawrence Pierce
(never married)
Lawrence had some mental problems since he was young.
He did not have any children. He did live a long life though.
He passed away in 1986, in Rankin County, Mississippi, at the age of
78.
George Pierce
(md. ?)
George moved to Jacksonville and Newport Ridge, Florida,
and passed away there. I do not know much else about him otherwise.
Susie Mae Pierce
(died young)
Susie Mae passed away at the age of 3, in 1919.

(md. Leon Howell)
One of Nettie Ann's daughters married and lived in
Aberdeen, Monroe County, Mississippi. Her first name is not known to
us now. She passed away there.
