Obituary of Elmo Lofton

Elmo Lofton, PINSON

Taze Elmo Lofton, age 85, Retired from International Harvester in Memphis, and a retired farmer died Tuesday evening, January 21, 2003 at his home in Pinson.

Mr. Lofton was born in McNairy County; the son of the late Brodie and Utah Cox Lofton. He attended schools in McNairy County and in 1938 was married to Verda Lee Whitten. They made their home in Millington, where he worked for International Harvester until 1957; when they moved to Henderson where he farmed until 1966 when he retired. Mrs. Lofton preceded him in death.

He was married to Lora M. Williams in 1984 and they made their home at Pinson since that time. He was a member of the Finger Baptist Church.

He is survived by three children; Taze Lofton and wife Nancy, Leon Lofton and wife Donna, and Nona Seaton and husband Dwain all of Henderson. He was preceded in death by a son, Larry Lofton in 1953.

He is also survived by his wife, Lora Williams Lofton of Pinson and her five children, Tommy Williams and wife Leona, Steve Williams and wife Tracy, Laura Murchison and husband Cliff, Ginger Noe and husband Phil all of Jackson and Mary Morgan and husband Jim of Adamsville.

He has four sisters, Joyce Scroggins, Sue Higgins and Carmen Lofton all of Millington, Yvonne Dilly of Kansas City, MO and a brother, Avil Lofton of Memphis.

There are eighteen grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday from the Chapel of Casey Funeral Home with Bro. Ronnie Geary and Bro. Ben Flatt officiating and burial will follow in the Chester County Memory Gardens.
