Katherine S. Armes 

     Age 78, of Pine Grove, PA died December 12, at the home of her daughter following a lengthy illness.  Born in Wardell, Missouri on December 28, 1917 she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Dora (Hughes)* Stoffle.  During the early 60’s she was a radio personality in New York with her own beauty consultant show.  She was an executive secretary for Peter DeJongh at the George A. Fuller Construction Co. of N.Y., NY for thirty years until retiring in 1982.  Upon retirement she moved to Sacramento, California and while a resident at Wang Center, she became director for the center’s social activities and wrote for the center’s monthly newsletter.  She was highlighted in ads, billboards and local television advertising for Schuylkill Nursing Association, Schuylkill Haven, PA.  She was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Pine Grove.  Survivors:  daughter Martha LaRocca of Pine Grove; brother James Stoffle of Sacramento, CA; five grandchildren, ten great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her husband Louis Armes (1956), son Thomas, and grandson Sean Davidson.  Prior to coming back to PA she resided in St. Francis Center, Sacramento, CA.  The Rev. Robert Hoenick will officiate a memorial service to be held at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Pine Grove on January 18 at 11:00 AM.  Geschwindt-Stabingas Funeral Home, Schuylkill Haven are in charge of arrangements.  The family would prefer remembrances in the form of contributions to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, Pine Grove.
