Home of Samuel Berry & Cordelia (Hardesty) Allen

This house was once the home of Samuel Berry Allen & his wife Cordelia (Hardesty) Allen. Tom Young had several pictures of family in this yard. This house was also featured in a photo in the Times Leader in 1972 by Ron Gholson, "Broughton at Centennial Time". S. B. Allen had his store south of this home on the corner of Dawes street where he was a partner with Tomzen Gholson. It was the firm of Allen & Gholson. After the store burned all that remain there today are the concrete steps. Across the street from this house is the old Broughton Bank building.
