Dennis's father, Bill Griffith, had his first job as a second engineer on this boat.

The RANGER was built in 1902, from the JOHN W. AILES and then rebuilt in 1920 and finally replaced with a steel hull boat in 1935.  Read about the best and the worst of times for the RANGER, June 1920.
