He was born in Floyd County May 7, 1892, son of the late Lindsey J. and Martha Jane Tolbert Boggs, and had spent the greater part of his life here. He attended the Baptist Church and for many years prior to his retirement, was employed by O'Neill Manufacturing Company. He was married to the former Pearl Johnson Oct. 27, 1912. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Irene Stansell, Rome, two sons, Horace Boggs, Jr. Los Angeles, Calif, James Lee Boggs, Chattanoga, Tenn, seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held today at 2:30 p.m. at Shorter Avenue Baptist Church with Revs. Max Tucker and J. Howard Holcomb officiating. Interment will be in Oaknoll Memorial Gardnes. The body will remain at the funeral home and the family will be at the residence of Mrs. Irene Stansell, 7 Ridge Drive. Pallbearers include Herman Ramsey, John H. Byars, Raymond and Ralph Johnson, Grady Boggs and Bill Stansell. Jennings Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

He was married to Pearl JOHNSON (daughter of Lee Richard JOHNSON and Callie PALMER) on 27 Oct 1912 in Floyd Co., GA. (205) Pearl JOHNSON (120) (206) was born on 28 Mar 1896. She died on 2 Mar 1974 in Floyd Co., GA. She had an obituary on 4 Mar 1974. Obituary, Published 3/4/1974: Mrs. Pearl Boggs: Mrs. Pearl Boggs, 77 of 7 Ridge Dr., died at 10:05 p.m. Sunday, in a Rome convalescent home following an illness of several months. Mrs. Boggs was born March 28, 1898 in Floyd County, daughter of the late Lee Richard Johnson and Callie Palmer Johnson, and had resided here most of her life. She was a member of Shorter Avenue Baptist Church. Her husband, Horace Franklin Boggs, Sr. died Feb. 5, 1971. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Irene Stansell, Rome, two sons, James Boggs, Chattanooga and Horace Boggs, Los Angeles, two brothers, Bill Johnson, Cave Spring, Hubert Johnson, Rome, two sisters, Mrs. Annie Mae Huffman, Rome and Myrtle Hanson, LaFayette, seven grandchildren and three great-granchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Shorter Avenue Baptist Church with the Revs. Howard Holcomb and Max Tucker officicating. Interment will be in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens. The body will remain at the Jennings Funeral Home and the family will receive friends there from 7 to 9 p.m. today. At other hours they will be at the residence of a daughter, Mrs. Stansell, 7 Ridge Dr. Pallbearers will include Milton Stewart, Jerry Penny, James Z. Loyd, Billy Johnson, Doyal Grant and Raymond Johnson. Jennings Funeral has charge of arrangements. She was buried in Rome, Floyd Co., GA - Oaknoll Cemetery, AL Highway.
