Did Henry from Cashey Swamp go to Old Fort to trade Indians? Who was looking for Valentine Braswell? There he is, a few paragraphs back. His wife was Jane Pope. Fascinating notes from a new-found researcher:
From all the research into the Brazell families in Tattnall Co. that I've looked into, they descend from one family moving into Tattnall Co. They all descend from a John and Eliza Burton Brazell. I've run into the Overstreets in Tattnall Co. through a McGilberry Overstreet (born 1790 in NC) who became the guardian of a Martha Branch who married a Robert Surrency and a Silas Overstreet who married a Matilda Smith. McGilberry Overstreet seems to have a brother named Piercy Overstreet(born 1795 in NC) living in his household also.
There is also a John C. Overstreet(born 1838 in Tattnall Co.) who lived in the household of Silas Tootle at one time. And you also
have an Elizabeth Tootle living in the household of William Overstreet in Appling Co., GA. It may not matter whether its Tutle or Tootle in some cases. We would be talking in the same ballpark in some cases. I tell you what I believe. I believe the John C. Overstreet, who is living with Silas Tootle in the 1850 Tattnall Co. Census and marries a Mary J. Strickland in Tattnall Co. and can be found with
wife Mary J. Strickland Overstreet and son Robert in the 1870 Census, is the John C. Overstreet attributed to Silas S. Overstreet and Nancy Sever. The son named Robert Overstreet is probably the son named George R. Overstreet attributed to him. Does this make any sense to you?
