Norfolk Street The Young Men's Association
Sitting - L.A. Neelands, Albert Cabeldu, H.H.. Leadley, C.M. Passmore The Young Men's Association owes its origin to Rev. F.A. Cassidy, who, when the church was renovated in 1902, conceived the idea of providing the young men of the congregation with a suitable room, where they could feel at home in the church. The Young Men's Parlor having been provided, the Association followed as a natural sequence. The object of the Association, briefly stated, was to develop a well-balanced manhood, with all that implies, by means of social meetings, lectures, debates, and various outdoor and indoor amusements in season. Mr. Cassidy returned to Japan before the organization of the Association was completed, and the work was carried on by T.A. Rodger, a former Y.M.C.A. Secretary, until the Rev. S.E. Marshall took charge at the close of the conference year. In 1906 there was a membership of forty-two
