According to Gen Index of the 1st Settlers of New England by Savage he took oath of allegiance in London 22 Jun 1632 before embarcing in the Lion which arrived at Boston 16 Sept 1632. He conjectures he is R Ellis of Dedham. See also LR-C15. A Richard Allis of Essex witnessed a will with a Thomas Allis for Francis Bayford of Farnham, Essex, England dated 3 Dec 1622 (see LR-C92) John Talcott was born in England, and came to America with his family in the ship "Lyon," which sailed fr

There was a Richard Allis aboard the Lyon when it sailed from London on 22 June 1632. The master of the ship was William Pierce. The Lyon delivered her 123 passengers (of which 50 were children) to Boston harbor on 16 September 1632. There was a Lt. Richard Ellis in Dedham (admitted to the Dedham church on 5 (11) 1643. He was a wheelwright. He died in Dedham in 1694. He deeded his property in Block Island to William Ellis whose name occurs on Mr. Burgess’s map of the early lay out of Block Island.
