I think the following relates to the Oscar Abstein burial site and
not the Schultz family:
|
These two graves sit high above the northwest
intersection of N. Eldridge Parkway and the north I-10 feeder road.
They are accessed via Old Katy Road off of N Eldridge Parkway and
are marked by two wooden crosses.
See the photo page for more information. |

2nd Edition (Tejas Publs. & Research, Houston 2001) |
Located just east of Pine Forest Country Club, just
west of Joyce and south of Clay Road, Battiss-Otte is a small,
fenced-in cemetery resting back behind a restaurant. Walk back
between the horse corrals and the restaurant, squeeze through an
opening in the fence just to the left of the shed in the photo and
then follow the well worn trail back to the cemetery. In spite of
the fence, nature is taking back this small patch of history and two
obelisks in the cemetery have recently been knocked over -- sad. |

On private
property & next to

suggested that this is the Highlands Cemetery. It's hard to
believe that these four graves constitute a community cemetery
however. |

BLUE LIGHT CEMETERY: Addicks area, it is actually the
Hillendahl-Eggling Family Cemetery. RECORDED: A Transcript of
the Addicks-Methodist, Blue Light, Perry and Military Section of
Woodlawn Cemetery "Little Arlington"
(1976) by the San Jacinto Society, Children of the American
Revolution. NOTE: Use with caution; many errors. |
This
is another difficult-to-find cemetery where a GPS would be
invaluable. Roughly, take Eldridge Parkway north from I-10, past
Patterson Road and turn left on War Memorial Drive. Continue about
ľ mile and turn left on Sullins Way. This is where it gets
difficult; follow Sullins down and around until you get to two
pavilions on the left and a large picnic area on the right side of
the road (we need approximate mileage). Park back at the tree line
behind the picnic area on the right and look for an opening in
the trees leading to a red gate (see photos 1 & 2). From the gate
and through the trees, you’ll see a large pasture (see photo 3). On
the far side of the pasture and barely discernable in the center of
the photo is the fenced in cemetery. It is locked and you’ll need
to get permission to enter. The park office is located at the end
of Zorn which is the first left off of War Memorial after entering
the park. |

This
cemetery, located on Clow Road, was found to be in existence at the
time of production of the 1962 USGS Tomball 7.5-minute map. However,
no evidence of the cemetery existed during field investigation in
2001. The cemetery may have been destroyed during construction of
nearby landfill or new homes. The preceeding is
false. While much of the cemetery may have been lost to time,
a few stones remain. |
Drive south on Stuebner-Airline
from Cypresswood. Turn left (east) onto Clow (just past Strack
on the right) and go to the fenced area (it sticks out like a sore
thumb) and there is what looks like a private road on your right
(see photo at left). Turn into there and the cemetery, err
Tombstones, are past the dump truck on your left, directly in front
of the wrecked cars. Someone laid down some trellis but if you
follow that path, directly to the left of the trellis are the
tombstones. . .JECastillo |

From Louetta, drive south
on Jones Road about 1/2 mile until you cross the bridge over Faulkey
Gully. Before you get to the next subdivision and back off to
the right is a stand of trees in back of the homes on Faulkey Gully
that back onto Faulkey Gully itself. The cemetery sits back a
ways from the south bank of the gully in that stand of trees.
