Fort Bragg Advocate, Aug 24, 1921 Mrs. Hannah Jane Cowen, 79, was buried August 25, 1921 in Fort Bragg following services at the Baptist church conducted by Rev. Howe. Born in Clarion County, Pennsylvania, July 29, 1842, the daughter of Abram Henchbarger, she grew up there and, in 1861, married Robert Cowen. They had 15 children, three of whom died in infancy. Two daughters, Mrs. Jennie Parker of St. Paul, Minnesota, and Mrs. Emily Sanborn of Fort Bragg, died a few years ago. Survivors included: James Edward Cowen of Clearfield, Pennsylvania, Mrs. Mary Faber, Ukiah, Mrs. Margaret Plummer, Fort Bragg, John W. Cowen, Redwood Valley, Harry Cowen, Briceland, Mrs. Anna Camp, Akron, Ohio, Mrs. Floy Ginochio of San Francisco, Mrs. Nettie Johnson, Fort Bragg, Mrs. Sallie Cummings, Fort Bragg, Ralph Cowen, Briceland. A sister, Mrs. Priscilla Fister of Clearfield, two brothers, Manuel Henchbarger of Greenville, Pennsylvania, and Augustus Henchbarger of Clearfield, also survived. 26
