- Cressy, David, Coming Over: Migration and Communication Between England and New England in the Seventeenth Century, 1987. On p. 65: "An exceptionally detailed registration in 1637 produced entries like the following: 'April the 8th, 1637. The examination of John Baker, born in Norwich, Norfolk, grocer, aged 39 years, and Elizabeth his wife, aged 31 years, with three children: Elizabeth, John and Thomas, and four servants: Mary Alxarson aged 24 years, Anne Alxarson aged 20 years, Bridget Boulle aged 32 years and Samuel Arres aged 14 years, are desirous to go to Charles Town in New England, there to inhabit and remain.'"
